London Road - Portsmouth

Reasons to live in Portsmouth

There are many different reasons to live in Portsmouth, including its rich Naval history and excellent shopping! Here are a few of our favourites:

The Bandstand
Free music, great setting – you can also bring your own food and drink and have a great picnic. There are free live concerts every weekend during the summer, from 1pm - 4pm, with such a wide range of musical styles there really is something for everyone.

Port Solent
A great live music event on the second May Bank Holiday weekend. Also, tasty ice cream, all year round!

It's a foodie’s dream!
If you enjoy dining with a view, then Portsmouth won’t let you down. With an array of eateries just minutes from the water’s edge, you can enjoy a delicious dinner as you watch the sun set. There are so many options, but here are some of our favourites:
• In the Wave Maiden Southsea, you will be spoilt for choice and the platter menu is available all the time, great for snacking any time with a beer or perfect for late night nibbles.
• If you are just looking to refuel, the quirky Pie and Vinyl allows visitors to browse an impressive selection of records while indulging in a hearty pie - what’s not to love?
• Fancy a sweet treat for the journey home? Don’t miss out on a trip to Manna Tea Rooms for some homemade delights.

All the terrific music venues
The Wedgewood Rooms, the Guildhall, the Kings Theatre and the Pyramids are fantastic venues – with plenty on offer, for all music tastes

The view from Portsdown Hill
See the sun set from this vantage point – perfect on a summer’s day.

Fantastic walking routes
Our beautiful port city has a number of walking routes for you to explore! From visiting the birthplace of Charles Dickens to discovering more about Portsmouth’s involvement in the First World War, there is plenty to learn about this picturesque part of the British Isles.

Great for the history lovers
Portsmouth is absolutely steeped in history. Step aboard HMS Victory and climb aboard to take a guided tour of this amazing warship or head over to Southsea Castle where you and your family can enjoy free admission to Henry VIII's famous fortification.
