How long have you worked in the industry?

Since 2018

What does your role mean to a client?

I help people buy and keep their homes by finding the right mortgage and putting the right protection around it.
For a client, that means I don’t just sort the loan and walk away. I look at their whole situation – income, family, health, future plans and budget – and then explain in simple terms what would happen if they died, were diagnosed with a serious illness, or couldn’t work due to illness or injury. I recommend a combination of life cover, critical illness cover and income protection that’s realistic, affordable and focused on keeping the roof over their head and their bills paid.

A lot of my work is with clients buying new‑build homes and using schemes like shared ownership, so I’m used to guiding people who may be buying for the first time or navigating something unfamiliar. I handle the paperwork, speak to lenders and insurers, and make sure they understand their options so they can make confident, long‑term decisions about both their mortgage and their protection.

In 3 words describe the culture here at MAB?

Reassuring, approachable and knowledgeable.

Is there a specific client success story that brings you joy?

Last year I met a client who came to me feeling defeated after several mortgage brokers had already told her “no.” She explained that she felt judged, and that no one had taken the time to understand how she’d ended up with an adverse credit history. We sat down together, went through her situation in detail and reviewed her credit file line by line, which allowed me to build a clear picture of what had happened and, crucially, how things had improved. Drawing on my experience with our lender panel, I approached a lender that uses human underwriters for more complex cases and presented her story in full, not just the numbers on the screen. We secured a mortgage offer that she told me was cheaper than she expected, and it enabled her to buy her first home when she had almost given up hope. Seeing the relief and gratitude she felt in that moment is exactly why I love what I do, taking the time to listen, understand, and then find a solution that changes someone’s life.

What was your first job? What did you learn that you still use today?

My first job was as an estate agent when I was 17, and I still use a lot of what I learned there today. I quickly realised how emotional buying a home is, and how important it is to listen properly rather than just “sell”. People wanted to be heard, understood and guided. I learned to communicate clearly, manage expectations and explain complex steps in a simple, calm way, especially when clients felt stressed or unsure. I also got used to speaking confidently with people of all ages and backgrounds, which now helps me build trust quickly in advice meetings. Those early lessons in empathy, clear communication and managing people through big life decisions are at the core of how I now work as a mortgage and protection adviser.

Do you have any pets?

Milo - My 3 year old Spocker-poo. He is a bundle of energy and love. He has a love-hate relationship with the postman who only seems to arrive during meetings!

You just bought a new home? What room are you renovating first?

The first room I’d renovate would be the kitchen – it’s the heart of the home for me, where I cook, relax and have friends and family round, so I’d want it to feel modern and social.

What is your go-to meal after a long day?
