Frequently asked questions

Why do I need mortgage advice?

Getting a mortgage is likely to be one of the biggest financial decisions you'll ever make, and it's important you make a choice that suits your circumstances. A mortgage adviser can search the market on your behalf and recommend the right deal for you.

How do I apply for a mortgage?

The process involves providing lots of information to lenders (and filling out a whole lot of forms). Being well prepared is key and can make the process move smoothly. For more guidance, check out our comprehensive guide.

How do I get a mortgage if I'm self-employed?

Being self-employed doesn't mean you can't get a mortgage. Ensuring your books are all up-to-date and keeping a clear record of your finances can help strengthen your position as a borrower. In this case, we'd recommend speaking with a mortgage adviser to find out what you need to do.

What is remortgaging?

Remortgaging is the process of taking out a new loan to cover your previous mortgage. Remortgaging can come with plenty of benefits, from releasing equity in your home to the potential to save money on your monthly repayments. Check out our remortgaging guide for more information.

What is protection?

Protection secures your family and home against the worst-case scenario. It's also important to note that your needs are likely to change throughout your life. Perhaps you're moving jobs, starting a family, or even downsizing. These are all things you need to consider when looking at protection.

Do I need to have a Will in place to get a mortgage?

No, having a Will in place is not a requirement for getting approved for a mortgage.

However, having a Will is generally recommended for everyone regardless of their mortgage situation. It ensures your wishes for your estate are carried out after you pass away, which can avoid complications for your loved ones during an already difficult time.

I have to give the upmost praise to Tom and Lottie. My experience as a first time buyer was made so much simpler and stress-free as Tom and Lottie were so professional and friendly, going out of their way to advise and support me through my the purchase of my first home. MAB ltd secured me a mortgage that worked for my situation and brokered between the estate agents, mortgage lender and solicitors where required and were always available when I needed their help. I highly recommend MAB ltd for anyone buying a property. Thanks guys :)

Laura and Holly were exceptionally helpful and very friendly. It was obvious from the first meeting that they were very knowledgeable and answered every question we had. Communication from them was excellent and we were always kept up-to-date. I very highly recommend them, especially if you are a first time buyer too.

I cannot honestly believe the service I received from both Katie and Charline at MAB. They were both absolutely fabulous. On multiple occasions Katie would touch base with me via phone or email beyond normal office hours and I could hear her typing away doing everything possible she could to allow me and my partner to buy our home. She made possible what we didn’t think was achievable and with such perseverance, efficiency and speed. I cannot thank you enough for the lengths you went to to help me. I will never use anyone else!

Mr Jack Mansell, the mortgage advisor who dealt with my business, is a most conscientious, dogged and diligent person who, when given a challenge, such as was the case with my issues, didn't shy away from the task at hand, but instead went headstrong with full gusto and didn't stop until he succeeded in finding the best deal for my wife and I. I will wholeheartedly recommend the services if both this individual and the company he represents as outstanding 👏.

Thank you to the team - Helen Crowther and Kate Gregory. For what should have been a straightforward house purchase it had several challenges to overcome: the patience and guidance from the two of them has meant this has succeeded. They’ve been brilliant and could not have done more.
