Frequently asked questions

Why do I need mortgage advice?

Getting a mortgage is likely to be one of the biggest financial decisions you'll ever make, and it's important you make a choice that suits your circumstances. A mortgage adviser can search the market on your behalf and recommend the right deal for you.

How do I apply for a mortgage?

The process involves providing lots of information to lenders (and filling out a whole lot of forms). Being well prepared is key and can make the process move smoothly. For more guidance, check out our comprehensive guide.

How do I get a mortgage if I'm self-employed?

Being self-employed doesn't mean you can't get a mortgage. Ensuring your books are all up-to-date and keeping a clear record of your finances can help strengthen your position as a borrower. In this case, we'd recommend speaking with a mortgage adviser to find out what you need to do.

What is remortgaging?

Remortgaging is the process of taking out a new loan to cover your previous mortgage. Remortgaging can come with plenty of benefits, from releasing equity in your home to the potential to save money on your monthly repayments. Check out our remortgaging guide for more information.

What is protection?

Protection secures your family and home against the worst-case scenario. It's also important to note that your needs are likely to change throughout your life. Perhaps you're moving jobs, starting a family, or even downsizing. These are all things you need to consider when looking at protection.

Do I need to have a Will in place to get a mortgage?

No, having a Will in place is not a requirement for getting approved for a mortgage.

However, having a Will is generally recommended for everyone regardless of their mortgage situation. It ensures your wishes for your estate are carried out after you pass away, which can avoid complications for your loved ones during an already difficult time.

When I first contacted MAB, I was at a loss in getting a joint mortgage, from the start all staffs involved were friendly, polite and helpful, advising me every step of the way, then came my assigned advisor Jonathan Dytiche, he has been a such a star in advising and instructing me, making sure no unexpected delays popped up and giving me piece of mind when they did, he goes above and beyond for his clients and his assistant Andrew Guest has been wonderful, cheerful, polite and happily updating me whenever needed, keeping everyone involved on their toes. I would highly recommend going through MAB as they make your life so much easier especially when your circumstances are a little tricky.

Really fantastic service. My husband and I are first time buyers, Frances our advisor was super responsive, walked us through everything step by step. I honestly can't imagine that we would have been able to obtain the mortgage we got at the rate that we got in the time that we got it without her help. The cost of the service is so reasonable as well, likely a fraction of what we would have spent had we tried to go on our own.

The advice and guidance I’ve been given throughout the process has been great. Graham McCabe was thorough and enthusiastic when talking to me about the steps we needed to take. Kate has then kept us up to date in a timely manner. Mat from the protection team has also been informative and generally very helpful and lovely to speak to. It’s make the first steps as first time buyers straight forward and I can’t recommend the above people enough.

This is the 5th time I have used MAB for a purchase or renewal and every time Nadeen and Kate deliver. I recommend them all the time and have several friends who have gone on to use them and further recommend them. They're lovely people too!

What an incredible experience! We dealt with Sharon as our broker and Clare as our Case Manager. Both Sharon and Clare were super responsive, really friendly and very quick in terms of their roles and communications. We approached MAB as a first time buyer with no knowledge of the process at all. They made it really clear, gave good solid advise, clearly knew their business and helped us select the right mortgage for us. They took care of the whole process from start to finish and all we had to do was provide a few documents at the start. Highly recommended and will use them again for remortgage
