Mortgage Advice Bureau enjoyed its most successful year yet at the British Mortgage Awards, dubbed the mortgage industry Oscars. The awards, which recognise the stand-out achievements of the most deserving individuals in the UK mortgage industry, took place on Thursday 4th July at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
Amongst the award winners on the night was our very own Lee McKelvie (director at Mortgage Advice Bureau in Dundee).
Our business has gone from strength to strength this year and after a period of sustained growth, the 11-strong team officially opened a new mortgage shop on Dock Street in the heart of the city, with an informal meet and greet with clients and local business partners over canapes and drinks last month.
Earlier this year, we secured the award for Best Regional Broker at the Scottish Mortgage Awards by demonstrating our excellent service, people focus and the breadth of products and services we're able to access for our customers.
To add to this success, Lee picked up the award for Best Overall Broker at the recent British Mortgage Awards. It is by no mean feat to win this category – across the entire mortgage industry, it is awarded to the individual who knows where to find the most appropriate products, whose customer service is second to none and who has made a clear difference to their firm over the last 12 months.
Lee said: “It means the world to me to win this award and I’m absolutely astonished to have achieved it. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my amazing team. We are all extremely focused and simply love helping people – whatever their mortgage or protection requirements. I work all hours of the day to go that extra mile for customers. The reason I do it is because most of all, I love calling a client to tell them that their mortgage offer is in, and subject to the legalities, they’ll be getting the keys and cash they’ve been praying for! That’s why we’re in this job and ultimately why we put customers first in everything we do.
“We started the business in 2016 with just two mortgage advisers offering mortgage and protection advice to local customers. Since then, we’ve grown to a team of 11 advisers, with a sales and operations manager too. We had really outgrown our previous offices and with the fantastic regeneration and redevelopment going on in Dundee, we were keen to move to the city centre and hence we’ve now made the leap.
“We had a fantastic time at our recent launch event welcoming both new and existing customers into the shop, as well as bringing together the local business community. We plan to be in the heart of Dundee for many years to come and support customers throughout their journey, whether they’re buying their first home, moving, remortgaging or putting in place protection measures. Our friendly team are happy to help – even if it’s just to stop by and ask a question without an appointment.”
