The Glass House: Hull city centre retreat to call home

As the regeneration of Hull city centre continues, it’s fast becoming a desirable place to live in Yorkshire’s maritime city. It has lots to offer from its vibrant café culture to stellar schools. The property market remains strong, a great place to invest, so why not call it your home?

Why Hull is a great place to live

Hull is a place where you can feel part of a community with plenty to do with family and friends. Take a stroll into the city centre to enjoy the cafes and get some retail therapy or, choose from theatres and restaurants. Hull has excellent transport links. A visit to the coast is just a 25-minute drive away, or hop on the train to London in 2 hours and 40 minutes.

As the UK City of Culture from 2017 to 2020, activity has blossomed in Hull and continues to thrive. The city draws in crowds for annual events including Pride in Hull, Humber Street Sesh and Freedom Fest, and if you’re a resident of The Glass House, you’ll have front row seats!

What is The Glass House?

The Glass House is a luxury apartment development by Iguana Developments. It includes 94 apartments and penthouses at the former Police headquarters in Queen’s Gardens.

Stripped back to a concrete shell, two stories have been added and fully glazed around the outside. The design and location makes The Glass House completely unique and of the highest spec ever seen, possibly in the north of England. It includes lifestyle enhancing amenities including a cinema room, gym, co-working space and private dining - a place that makes city living easy.

Can you use Help to Buy?

The Glass House is registered with the government Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme. This helps buyers who wish to purchase a new build property but are struggling to save a large enough deposit. The scheme gives buyers access to up to 20% of the purchase price (interest-free for the first five years of owning the property). This means you could only need a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage.

A mortgage adviser can give you more detailed information on whether you’re eligible for the scheme and if it’s a suitable option that works for you.
